What is a Psychiatrist?

A Psychiatrist is a Doctor of Allopathic Medicine(MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine(DO) who studies in the specialty emotional/behavioral conditions. This includes a process of evaluation, diagnosis, referral and treatment of a varying diagnosis.

What does it mean to be Board-Certified?

As stated by the American Board of Medical Specialties, β€œIt ensures that physicians are meeting the highest standards set by their peers practicing in a medical specialty. Board certification represents specialty-specific training beyond medical licensure. It is a voluntary process that demonstrates a physician's commitment to meeting a higher standard.”

What ages do you see?

Adults starting from age 17 and Senior in High School.

Do you see only Women?

No. This is my specialty, and my target group but I do see all adults.

How long are the sessions?

  • Intake sessions are 50-70 minutes depending on complexity.

    • 50 minutes - general new assessment

    • 70 minutes - prolonged new assessment/consultation

  • Follow up sessions are as followed

    • 20 minutes - medication management session

    • 40 minutes - medication management and/or brief therapy session


Is my personal information confidential?

All of your information will be stored and managed on a HIPPA compliant electronic health record called Valant. No information will be shared without a formal release of information paper signed by you or the legal guardian.

Do you accept insurance?

Currently Mindful Steps Inc is considered a fee for service practice. This means as an out of network provider, the practice is not participating in any health insurance program. However the practice will be able to provide you a receipt of your service that you can submit to your insurance for possible full or partial reimbursement .

How much are your fees?

How are payments handled?

100% of the service payment is due prior to the appointment. Payments can be applied through the Advanced MD charting system which accepts all major credit cards, FSA and HSA.

Is there a fee for a late cancellation/missed appointment?

Yes. Appointments cancelled within 24 hours can be charged up to 50% of their service fee.

Inside Sunrise Psychiatry Inc. a sister practice providing TMS services as of Oct 2022.

Will masks be required for in person visits?

Masks are no longer a requirement for appointments. COVID rates will continue to be monitored and the clinic is able to reinstate the mask requirement at anytime
